Day 1: Wasini Day Trip

Wasini day trip

Enjoy a day of dhow sailing, sun bathing, swimming,seafood, dolphin spotting and adventurous snorkeling in Kisite Marine Park! Get a glimpse of local culture while visiting Wasini village, the Coral Garden and Shimoni’s Slave Cave and enjoy the tropical seafood lunch at Wasini Island.

Pick up at your hotel in Diani beach at 07.00am and drive to the historical small fishing village of Shimoni at the South Coast. On the way, you will have the opportunity to see rural villages, tall palm trees and lush greenery.

Slave Caves: A local guide will lead you through the Shimoni caves where slaves were “stored” during the old slave trading days before shipment to the Zanzibar slave market.

Departure to Kisite Marine park from the Shimon piers, a traditional Arab Dhow will take you for a cruise in the Marine Park. There are high chances of spotting Dolphins that inhabit this unique marine reserve.

For those interested in Snorkeling, masks and snorkels and will be provided and certified and experienced guides on hand to accompany you. Assistance is also provided to first timers.

At lunch time, Sail to Wasini Island, where a tropical seafood lunch awaits you at the “Coral Spirit Restaurant”. The four-course menu includes crab, fish, sea weed and rice with coconut sauce. You can also opt for a chicken or vegetarian menu. Beer, wine and soft drinks are included.

Afternoon activities(optional): After lunch, you have the option to take a discovery stroll through the Island and its Swahili culture. Alternatively, you can relax at the restaurant, enjoying the sea view and the breeze. Depending on the ocean and tide, visiting shimoni slave cave can be done in the afternoon.

Return to your hotel.

Safe Payments

On booking your safari with us, we will ask for a 50% down-payment with the balance due 45 days prior to your arrival. Payments can either be made by electronic bank transfer or by credit card (Master Card and Visa) through our Direct Pay payment gateway in over an encrypted Internet connection. We will never ask you to send us any credit card details by email nor will we keep any records of your credit card details! The protection of your personal data is paramount to us.
