Masai Mara

Covering an area of over 1,500 square km, the Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most popular tourism destinations in Kenya. The reserve is located in the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland. The Masai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. The annual wildebeest’s migration alone involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in November. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, and it is for this reason a visitor hardly misses to see the big five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino). Other game includes hippopotami, cheetah, Grant’s gazelle, impala, topi, Coke’s hartebeest, giraffe, Roan antelope and the nocturnal bat-eared fox. However, wildebeest are by far the dominant inhabitants of the Masai Mara

Day 1:

Pick up from your hotel in Diani at 07.00hrs, depending on location of the hotel pick up times may vary, Ukunda airport is 15minutes from your beach hotel. Transfer to Ukunda airport after security clearance you will board on the scheduled flight departing from Ukunda airport at 08.15am to Maasai Mara game reserve. The approximately travel time will be around 2hrs and 15minutes and the views on the way is spectacular, whether permitting Mount Kilimanjaro can be seen in above the clouds on your way to masai mara. You will be met on arrival at the and transferred to the camp with game drives en-route, lunch at the camp, take a short break until 16.00hrs and thereafter continue with the afternoon game viewing drives in the reserve, returning for dinner at around 18.30hrs.

• Dinner and overnight at a Governors Camp

Day 2:

Early morning game drives at 06.30am returning to the camp for breakfast at around 08.00am, After an early breakfast at your camp it will be time to set off for another scenic drive to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve, the highlight of any visit to Kenya. Although the reserve is particularly famous for the Wildebeest Migration, wildlife viewing here is exceptional all year round. Governors camp is located inside the mara triangle and there the crossing points are easily accessible from this camp. Return to the camp for lunch, with a short afternoon nap, where you leave for evening game drives at 16.00hrs, returning for dinner at around 18.30hrs.

Day 3:

Early morning game drive 06h00 to 08h00. Return for full Flight departures in the afternoon which takes about 2hrs to Diani beach. Take the scheduled flight back to Diani at around 1.30pm and transferred to your beach resort.

The cost includes the following services:
  • 2 Nights full board basis at Governors Camp
  • Ground transportation in a safari 4x4 open Jeep for game viewing.
  • All game drives.
  • All park fees.
  • Pick up and drop off at your hotel.
  • Services of an English speaking driver/guide.
  • Return flight to Masai Mara from Ukunda airport (Diani beach)
The cost excludes:
  • Cultural visits to Masai Villages and the likes.
  • Balloon Safaris and guided walks
  • Items of personal use e.g. drinks, laundry, telephone, tips, personal travel insurance, extra/outdoor activities offered by the individual lodges or hotels and any other service not mentioned above.

On booking your safari with us, we will ask for a 50% down-payment with the balance due 45 days prior to your arrival. Payments can either be made by electronic bank transfer or by credit card (Master Card and Visa) through our Direct Pay payment gateway in over an encrypted Internet connection. We will never ask you to send us any credit card details by email nor will we keep any records of your credit card details! The protection of your personal data is paramount to us.
